Trump Endorses Conservative in Colombian Presidential Runoff

Colombia’s presidential candidate Abelardo de la Espriella, of the Salvadores de la Patria movement, speaks to supporters behind bulletproof glass after a quick count of votes in the presidential election at the Ventana al Mundo monument in Barranquilla, Colombia, on May 31, 2026. U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday endorsed conservative Colombian presidential candidate Abelardo de la Espriella, who will face progressive senator Ivan Cepeda in a runoff election this month.

“The results of this election are very important to the future of Colombia and its relationship to the United States,” Trump wrote in a June 3 post on Truth Social.
