Semicon West, a popular technology conference, announced Thursday, July 30, that it will move its long-term home from San Francisco to Phoenix next year.

As part of the move, it will also adopt a new annual spring schedule that will run from March 30–April 1 in 2027 at the Phoenix Convention Center. Future events have already been scheduled for May 9–11 in 2028 and April 3–5 in 2029.

“By establishing Phoenix as the long-term home of our flagship North American event, we’re creating greater consistency for attendees while building on the tremendous momentum of Arizona’s rapidly expanding semiconductor ecosystem,” said Joe Stockunas, president of SEMI Americas.

The Semicon conference centers on microelectronics and holds events around the world in countries including Japan, Taiwan, and India.

“From AI and advanced packaging to smart manufacturing, mobility, MedTech, sustainability, and workforce development, this is where the industry connects to solve challenges and accelerate progress,” Semicon says on its

website

.

Last year, Semicon West was held in Phoenix for the first time after being in San Francisco for more than 30 years.

This event will be back in San Francisco this year, taking place Oct. 13–15 at the Moscone Center, before moving to Phoenix next year.

Semicon originally said it intended to have the conference alternate between the two cities before announcing the full-time move.

, a decentralized conference that features different types of technology-focused events throughout the city.

Semicon said it will feature presentations from industry leaders, showcases of different technologies and products, and programs across different industry topics taught by experts.

The conference spoke highly of Phoenix’s semiconductor ecosystem in its statement, saying it has expanded rapidly and attracted more than $200 billion in investments since 2020.

“Major commitments from leading chipmakers, advanced packaging companies and other suppliers are strengthening the region’s ecosystem, creating new jobs, accelerating workforce development and reinforcing Arizona’s role as a critical center for advanced manufacturing and innovation,” the conference stated.

In mid-July, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC)—one of the world’s leading chipmakers—committed to a $100 billion investment in Arizona on top of the $165 billion investment already committed. The company already has a large footprint in the state.

The Arizona Commercial Authority said in a July 30 statement that Semicon’s Phoenix debut last fall recorded a 60 percent jump in registrations and was the most widely attended Semicon West event in almost 20 years.
