Federal government workers are now more than twice as likely as employees nationwide to be working fully on site, following President Donald Trump’s order ending most remote work arrangements, according to a Gallup poll released on Sept. 2.

The share of federal government employees working in the office full-time jumped to 46 percent in the second quarter of 2025, which is more than double the national average of 21 percent, and nearly 30 percentage points higher than late last year, when that figure stood at just 17 percent.
