BC Woman Accuses School District of Political Discrimination After Being Blacklisted From Homestay Program

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms has filed a human rights complaint on behalf of Bryony Dixon (pictured). Courtesy of Bryony Dixon

A complaint filed with the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal alleges that a member of a Vancouver Island school district’s homestay program who previously hosted international students was blacklisted because of her political views.

Bryony Dixon of Ladysmith, B.C., says a Freedom of Information (FOI) request revealed that she was barred from continuing to participate as a homestay parent in School District 68’s International Student Education Program this past school year due to her views opposing the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) philosophy in schools, which involves the teaching of different sexual orientations and gender identities.
