Angelo Isidorou, executive director of the B.C. Conservatives, has announced he is stepping down on “amicable and mutual terms” to pursue unspecified plans.

Isidorou has served in the position for four years and was the party’s provincial campaign manager during the 2024 election, when the B.C. Conservatives dramatically increased their seat count to become the official Opposition.

“Building the Conservative Party of BC has been the honour of a lifetime,” Isidorou said on X on July 29. “When I joined our party and stepped into my role in 2022, we were polling at two percent, had a broken website, old branding, no money in the bank and almost no members at all.”

Isidorou did not provide a specific reason for leaving the role. The party posted Isidorou’s statement on its website, along with comments from party Leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay, who thanked Isidorou for his assistance during the leadership transition.

Findlay was elected leader of the B.C. Conservatives on May 30, by a thin margin of 51 per cent to Caroline Elliott’s 49 per cent after four rounds of voting. She succeeds interim leader Trevor Halford following John Rustad’s resignation.

Isidorou joined the party leadership team in 2022 after he was elected to its board and worked to upgrade the party’s fundraising, organization, and communications.

After Rustad was chosen as party leader in March of 2023, the party went on to win 44 out of 93 seats in the B.C. legislature in October 2024, leaving the governing NDP with a narrow majority, at 47 seats.

“Most importantly, we came within a hair of forming a majority government,” Isidorou wrote in his resignation letter. “From 2 percent to over 40 in just a few years.”

Isidorou remained executive director through a turbulent period for the party that included caucus disputes, the departure or removal of five MLAs, and Rustad’s resignation as leader on Dec. 4, 2025.

Isidorou also stayed on for the leadership race and selection of Findlay as party leader, during which the party said its membership swelled to over 42,000, making it the biggest political party in the province by membership.

“I am extremely proud of the movement we built and will continue to build,” he wrote. “I am excited for my next chapter, where I will continue fighting back against the radical policies that plague the western world, beyond just BC.”

No successor has been announced. The executive director is generally appointed by the party’s leadership and board.
