Israel and Syria agreed to establish a joint security and communication mechanism following a U.S.-brokered trilateral meeting in Paris on Jan. 6, according to a joint statement by the three governments.
Senior Israeli and Syrian officials met under U.S. auspices, reaffirming their commitment to security and stability, despite the long-standing strained relationship between Jerusalem and Damascus and tensions along their shared border.
