Popular BC Off-Roading YouTubers Killed in Vehicle Accident

A Nanaimo, B.C., couple who became famous for sharing their off-road adventures on YouTube were killed last week in a vehicle accident in the mountains of B.C.’s Interior.

Matthew Yeomans and his fiancée Stacey Tourout, whose off-road YouTube channel Toyota World Runners boasted more than 200,000 subscribers, were killed in the Aug. 7 incident near Trout Lake, B.C., approximately 89 kilometres southeast of Revelstoke.

The news of their death was shared on social media by Stacey’s mother Colleen Tourout and was confirmed in a statement from Kaslo Search and Rescue (SAR), a volunteer emergency rescue organization based out of the village of Kaslo, B.C.

“We lost them both tragically succumbing to injuries in an offroad accident on Aug 7, 2025 in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia that they loved so much,” Colleen Tourout wrote. “Please keep us and them in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this devastating end to an amazing Love Story. They are together forever as we knew they would always be.”

Two Kaslo SAR crews responded to a call at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 regarding a severe rollover accident near Silver Cup Ridge in B.C.’s Purcell mountain range by Trout Lake, according to an Aug. 12 statement provided to The Epoch Times.

SAR crews managed to reach the mountainous accident site just before nightfall, aided by a group on quad bikes and supported by a local helicopter and pilot. Yeomans was located with no vital signs, while Tourout was found disoriented and seriously injured. Tourout was flown to a local hospital where she “sadly passed away later that evening,” Kaslo SAR said.

“The remote access, high altitude, and limited daylight all added complexity to an already difficult situation,” Kaslo SAR spokesperson Mark Jennings-Bates said in the statement.

Kaslo SAR is among approximately  80 volunteer SAR teams in B.C. and responds to calls for roughly 6,500 square kilometres of rugged terrain in the province’s Kootenay region.

Yeomans and Tourout began their relationship in 2019 and became engaged after Yeomans proposed to her last April in South America. The couple was best known for their YouTube channel, but also wrote a blog focused on their travels throughout the Americas that also showcased their RV and car retrofit designs.

The couple started their YouTube channel in 2020, racking up millions of views as they documented their travels and off-road adventures. Their final video prior to the accident was uploaded on July 31, showcasing their off-road escapades along the west coast of Vancouver Island, where they navigated trucks over extremely rocky coastal terrains to test their endurance and traction.

The couple shared an Instagram update showcasing their adventures on Vancouver Island just six days before their death in the Kootenays. The post has since garnered hundreds of  comments from fans and supporters mourning their deaths.
