Longest Ballot Protest Group Targets Terrebonne Byelection

A ballot for the riding of Carleton, showing the names of Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre and Liberal candidate Bruce Fanjoy, is seen at the Elections Canada Distribution Centre on the day of the federal election in Ottawa on April 28, 2025. The riding was the subject of a protest by the Longest Ballot Committee, a group calling for electoral reform. The Canadian Press/Justin Tang

The group that has flooded federal election ballots with candidates to run as a protest is now targeting the byelection in the Terrebonne riding in Quebec next month.

The Longest Ballot Committee, an activist group seeking electoral reform, said it is currently collecting signatures for candidates to run in the upcoming Terrebonne byelection. Prospective candidates have until March 23 to submit their paperwork.
