In 2026, the card offers 5 percent cash back on Costco gas and 4 percent on other eligible gas and electric vehicle (EV) charging (up to a $7,000 annual cap), plus tiered rewards in other categories. But because rewards are paid out once per year as a certificate, the card makes the most sense for disciplined households whose spending aligns naturally with its bonus structure.
On paper, the Costco Anywhere rewards look compelling. However, in the big credit card market, real value depends on how your household actually spends money.
Understanding the 2026 Rewards Structure
As of 2026, the Costco Anywhere Visa offers:
- 5 percent cash back on gas at Costco gas stations
- 4 percent cash back on other eligible gas and EV charging purchases
- 5 percent and 4 percent gas rewards are capped at $7,000 in combined annual spending, then drop to 1 percent
- 3 percent cash back on restaurants and eligible travel, including Costco Travel
- 2 percent cash back on Costco and Costco.com purchases
- 1 percent cash back—all other purchases
