BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) – Quad City Area employers gathered at the Waterfront Convention Center to learn how to implement programs to improve the health of their workers.
The Quad City Business Journal Health Symposium was moderated by TV6′s Marcia Lense.
The event included a panel of local business leaders in the City of Bettendorf. They explained how they set up their employee wellness programs to save money on health insurance or to improve morale.
A big part of the program emphasized the growing need to focus on both physical and mental health.
“So much of our lives is spent at work,” said Dr. Rich Whitaker, CEO of Vera French. “So much of our productivity at work depends on our mental health. You know, mental health is a foundation of all health, and all healthy workers are productive workers. Also, workers who feel good about themselves who are confident in their abilities, who are able to think clearly, and regulate their emotions well… they’re going to be productive workers as well.”
Presenters also noted they are seeing an increase in mental health issues and that businesses need to help workers access resources.
