COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A Colorado Springs man is facing multiple charges after allegedly ransacking a business and then engaging in a short standoff after being cornered by police.

Officers were called to Murray just south of Platte by a passerby who reported seeing someone burglarizing a store.

“When officers arrived, they observed a male, later identified as Adrian Hickey, inside the business actively destroying property,” a CSPD sergeant said.

After seeing the officers, the sergeant says the suspect refused to come out.

“He at one point armed himself with broken glass,” the sergeant said/

The standoff lasted under an hour.

“After about 45 minutes of negotiating with the suspect, he exited the business and was taken into custody without incident,” the sergeant said.

Hickey, 51, faces burglary and criminal mischief charges, according to police.

The name of the business and the extent of damage to it were not reported.
