MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) – Mount Pleasant Police are searching for a person who witnesses say pointed and presented a firearm in a shopping center.
The incident happened at approximately 4:35 p.m. in the area of Planet Fitness at Belle Station Boulevard, Sgt. Robert Blaschke said.
Police have not yet provided a description of the person they are searching for but Blaschke said they were actively searching as of just before 6:30 p.m.
Police also said just before 7 p.m. that children who were in a nearby karate studio when the incident took place were just allowed to leave. All of the children who were there are safe, police said.
“We are asking the public to stay away from this area,” he said.
There have been no reports of shots fired or any injuries.
Blaschke also said the incident did not involve a barricaded person.
