WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Builder’s Corner Cabinetry in Wausau is known for their custom cabinets and countertops but now they may be known for being yet another stop on Santa’s tour before December 25th.
The team did one project for ‘Santa’ and in return, he and the north pole traveled to the business to make wishes come true on Sunday.
“Growing up, we had the Wausau Center Mall, right? You waited in line, you saw Santa and after that there was really no, good place to go meet Santa and have a cool backdrop. We feel like we kind of hit it here,” Jamus Baumgardt the co-owner of Builder’s Corner Cabinetry, said about his festive decorations.
About 8 months ago ‘Santa’ walked into the shop looking for a new door for his home. Baumgardt and co-owner Josh Nickel figured a deal could be made that would benefit their business, ‘Santa’ and the community.
“I said if you come in here and play Santa, I’ll give you a deal on the door, and we kind of both forgot about it. Eight months later, he came in…and I said,’ hey, you remember this?’ He said ‘yeah.’ I said ‘okay, let’s plan a date.‘ We planned a date, and we went to work,” Baumgardt said.
Baumgardt and Nickel say it took them about 125 hours to turn the store into a winter wonderland. They started to set it all up before Thanksgiving.
The co-owners say they have plans to invite Saint Nick back next year, and maybe some other friendly faces.
The big man himself gave NewsChannel 7 an inside tip that he’ll be at the Dawg House in Weston on Saturday, December 14.
