RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – An international technology provider that’s active in thermal soil remediation has made its way to the City of Presidents.
The Belgian-based Haemers Technologies, Inc. was looking to expand its manufacturing and operations overseas and had been in talks with Elevate Rapid City for the last two years.
Elevate’s Senior Economic Development Director, Lori Frederick, said the international company recognized South Dakota for having a great tax and business environment. She added that Haemers found Rapid City intriguing due to the workforce through Western Dakota Tech and South Dakota Mines who work in the environmental space.
“We have one of the few programs that has environmental engineers as well as environmental technicians available here, so that was very intriguing for them,” Frederick said. “And then we just went forward and started talking about spaces and I helped them to understand what they were looking for.”
She said Haemers has created an opportunity to do soil remediation without removing the soil from the site. Frederick believes the company will help stimulate the local economy by bringing high-paying jobs.
Haemers has been in Rapid City for the last two months.
