A man accused of trying to steal a car from a Vancouver dealership while in Canada on an expired student visa will be allowed to stay in the country, a case document says.

The man, who came to Canada from India in 2022 on a student visa when he was 21 years old, spent only two semesters in college before becoming homeless, the document from the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada tribunal says. His study permit expired on July 30, 2024.
