The commission that organizes the official leaders’ debates for elections no longer wants to arrange the post-debate press conferences, following an incident during the last election that resulted in the English debate leadership scrums being cancelled.

Leaders’ Debates Commission executive director Michel Cormier told the Procedure and House Affairs Committee on Dec. 4 that the commission will continue to handle the accreditation of journalists but recommends no longer being responsible “for organizing the leaders’ press conferences that traditionally take place after the debates.”
