As China Erects Chip-Import Barriers, an MIT Professor Blames CCP’s Military Ambitions

Shortly after the Trump administration, despite congressional pressure, approved the export of Nvidia’s H200 chips to China, multiple Western media outlets, including the Financial Times and Reuters, reported that Chinese customs had banned their import.

Analysts believe this may be an attempt to reduce dependence on U.S. technology and support the development of domestic chip manufacturing. The United States and China are building increasingly high barriers in the chip sector, and a MIT business administration professor figures the Chinese Communist Party’s militaristic ambitions are one reason.
