Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has filed a consumer-protection lawsuit accusing Chinese e-commerce giant Temu of secretly harvesting massive amounts of sensitive data from Arizonans’ phones, deceiving customers with counterfeit goods and fake reviews, and posing what she called a grave threat to consumer privacy and security.

The complaint, filed on Dec. 1 in Maricopa County Superior Court, alleges that Temu and its parent company, PDD Holdings, violated the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act through unlawful data collection, violations of customers’ privacy, and counterfeiting of some of Arizona’s best-known brands, including Fender Guitars and the Arizona Cardinals football team.
