Police in BC, Saskatchewan Investigating Reports of Needles Found in Halloween Candy

Surrey Police received a call from a parent after a metal staple was found inside a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. It was just one of several incidents reported in British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Police in both provinces are urging parents to inspect their children’s Halloween candy after needles and other metal objects were found in several treats. Police handout photo

British Columbia and Saskatchewan authorities are investigating multiple reports of sewing needles or pins discovered in candy distributed to children on Halloween.

Police in Kamloops, Rossland, Delta, Prince George, and Surrey in British Columbia and the Regina Police Service in Saskatchewan have issued advisories warning parents to check all Halloween treats collected on Oct. 31 after receiving reports of foreign objects in candy.

Kamloops RCMP shared a picture on Nov. 3 of a miniature KitKat bar with a needle pushed through one of the sections to protrude from the end. Police said the treat was collected in the Chestnut Avenue, Oak Street, or Walnut Avenue area.
