Meta on June 23 introduced a new line of its AI-powered smart glasses with three new frame styles starting at $299, its lowest price yet.

The new “Meta Glasses” are the company’s first smart glasses line under its own name, but they will be produced by eyewear company EssilorLuxottica, which owns the eyewear brands Ray-Ban and Oakley that Meta partnered with on its previous lines.

“This is our biggest, boldest lineup yet—a whole new range of shapes, colours and premium finishes—including Meta Glasses by Kylie [Jenner], a unique slim oval frame inspired by Kylie’s personal style and her first venture into wearable tech,” Furhan Zafar, a Meta vice president, wrote on LinkedIn.

The “Starfire Kylie Edition” frames start at $399 and were designed in collaboration with influencer Kylie Jenner, while the “Meta Adventurer” and “Meta Fury” frames feature a simpler rectangular design.

The Menlo Park-based company said the glasses come with 26 styles across a range of colors and lenses and are available for purchase.

The company said they are the first glasses to come with Muse Spark, a new AI model Meta launched in April. The company highlighted Muse Spark’s performance in perception, reasoning, health, and agentic tasks.

Meta launched its “Meta Ray-Ban Display” smart glasses last September for $799, which followed its “Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2)” glasses that sell for $379.

Other tech companies have launched similar glasses recently. One of these was Snap, the developer of social media app Snapchat and digital avatar Bitmoji. Snap announced the launch of its first augmented reality glasses on June 16.

Introduced at the Augmented World Expo in Long Beach, California, Snap’s “SPECS” will be sold for $2,195, over seven times the starting price of Meta’s new glasses. SPECS are powered by two Snapdragon processors.

The company said the SPECS glasses overlay digital content onto a real-world view, a feature that Meta’s smart glasses do not have.

SPECS only come in the color black with a thick, chunky frame and are offered in a 52-millimeter size that weighs 136 grams and a 47-millimeter size that weighs 132 grams. Snap stated that they have a 51-degree field of view, which the company said is comparable to a 24-inch desktop monitor when you’re working or a 115-inch screen placed about 10 feet away.

SPECS are available for pre-order in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France; but unlike Meta Glasses, they are only expected to start shipping in fall.
