Three American citizens accused of taking part in an armed attack to overthrow the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have been transferred to U.S. custody and now face terrorism-related charges in federal court, according to U.S. authorities.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on April 9 that Marcel Malanga, 22; Tyler Thompson, 22; and Benjamin Zalman-Polun, 37, were charged with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists, conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction, and other federal offenses.
